[ Day 26 ] Sun, July 12, Emsdale to Truro (53km)

Origin: Briarwood B&B
Destination: Bob Williams, Glenda MacKinnon

Route description:  The 2 all the way to Truro
Shoulders a third of the way
Traffic light to moderate
Road rolling gently

Weather: Cloudy, threatening rain in the morning
Clearing with afternoon sunshine
Significant tailwind!!

Easy, pleasant ride paralleling the Canadan National rail line and the Shubenacadie River through small towns and farmlands (with occasional reminders of our rides through the farmlands of Wisconsin).

We turned off the highway to the town of Stewiacke for lunch. We sensed it is a town that takes pride in itself.
We were impressed that it has invested in public Wi-Fi.

Today is our first experience with Warm Showers. an international program in which cyclists open their homes to other cyclists. Our hosts,
Bob Williams and Glenda MacKinnon, provide us with a downstairs apartment, a washing machine, a wonderful dinner, scintillating conversation and a sense of being part of a community of people who tour the world by bicycle. They are great models for us, as we plan to pass along the favor by hosting cyclists in Ft. Collins in coming years.
