[ Day 47 ] Sunday, Aug 2, St. Peter to Charlottetown (65km)

Origin: Cable Head B&B

Destination: Harbour House Inn

Route Description:  Confederation Trail in St. Peters to Morell to Mount Stewart to Charlottetown, with a small detour on a road near the airport.

Weather: Beautiful sunny day with a few white fluffy clouds

Our last day of the Tour de PEI (as Ashok and Vikram had described our trip).

We traveled almost entirely on crushed-rock Confederation Trail

that runs from the western tip of the island to the eastern terminus in Elmira. Our first section of the day, from St. Peters to Morell, followed the bay
with scenic views over the water to the mussel farming areas, and to the other side of the bay and national park where we had biked yesterday. Several nice trail bridges crossed over the bay and later the Morell River.

Half of the trail had been recently resurfaced and we experienced a head wind most of the day which slowed our riding. Karlyn's bike had two more flats; luckily we were carrying plenty of extra tubes. We did enjoy beautiful patches of fireweed, black eyed susans, views of wetlands, and fields of flowering potatoes and a beautiful grey-green grain (oats, we believe). We also saw more cyclists today using the trail.

Our family group of 10 enthusiastic and strong cyclists completed the ride about 5:15 PM with a grand total of about 305 km for the 7 days. Rental bikes and helmets returned, we celebrated at COWS with ice-cream cones, then showers at the B&B, followed by island beers for the adults and dinner for all at an Irish Pub.

It has been a wonderful, fun week.
