[ Days 4 & 5 ] Saturday & Sunday, June 20, 21, Fredericton, NB (8km)

Relaxation and exploration of downtown on bicycle (8km) and on foot:
Vibrant Saturday farmers' market

crowded with enthusiastic shoppers--local food and crafts abundant. The longest line of all was for freshly squeezed orange juice.

We cycled across the "longest pedestrian-bicycle bridge in the world".

We walk a few blocks from our lodging to sample shopping, restaurants and historic sites in the tree-lined, compact centre de ville--Saturday in sun, Sunday in rain. The city celebrates the river that divides it, with more improvements planned to improve access. Surprised by how few cyclists we saw before Fredericton, here we see a good trail system and many cyclists. Nice early evening conversation over nachos and beer with Rice Fuller, long time friend of Ft. Collins neighbor, Bruce Berkowitz.

Totally unexpected: we were literally startled at eight in the evening by the piercing white light from the sun and its reflections--blinded as much by the glare off a puddle as by the sun itself when we tried to cross a street.
