Wednesday (54km):
Pleasant route today, mostly off main highways. We enjoyed minimal traffic on rural paved roads alternated with red, easy riding unpaved roads. Sinta took a tumble, but was able to ride slowly to the lunch spot.

Benny joined all for lunch in a grassy spot by the side of the road at the Clay and Ward roads intersection. Sinta joined Benny in the sag after lunch to rest a sore knee and to assist the much appreciated task of the laundromat run. A highlight for Srikant was having Ashok (who had attended bike camp earlier in the summer with Vikram)
teach him how to change Karlyn's flat, front tire.  It, however, was not a highlight for Srikant to break a spoke close to the end of the ride. A temporary fix by Bob, however, allowed him to get into Souris.
On arrival, all were happy to see Kristin's arrangements for a big bike box from the rental company waiting with more tubes and two additional wheels, given all the problems with flats.
At dinner, Benny and Srikant enjoyed whole lobsters.

Thursday:

After pancake breakfast, bikes were repaired, Sintobins and Vasans took back roads to join up with Marney and Bob and the van at Basin Head Beach (approximately 32km for the five who rode both ways). Basin Head, a Canadian provincial park, is a popular, beautiful white sand beach with wide sand bars at low tide.
Sun came out mid afternoon, adding more beauty to the water romping and beach walking.

All visited the Fisheries Museum above the beach.

Marney and Bob drove to see and enjoy the Railroad Museum in Elmira--the eastern end of the railroad that once served the island.

Unfortunately,
the evening Ceilidh, Celtic music and dancing, was cancelled due to the unexpected death last week of one of the island's well-loved musicians. We went instead to the Souris lighthouse to watch the sunset.
